Where is the model number on a Wolf range?
Swing the oven door down and look at the right-hand end of the control panel, right at the bottom. The little metal plate sitting there carries both numbers, the model and the serial. Older R bodies hide theirs under the left burner pan instead. Read whichever you find to Wolf Repair Denver on (720) 575-1433, and the right parts travel out with the van.
The code tells you most of it: width, then burners, then whatever sits between them — G for a griddle, C for a charbroiler, DG for two, F for a French top. The letters in front matter more. GR is all-gas and this site is written for it; a plate starting DF is dual-fuel, and the oven advice here does not apply.
Where to look, in order
-
Open the door and leave it down
The plate is behind the door, not on the front, so nothing is readable with it shut. Lower it flat, and let the cavity cool first if the oven has been on.
-
Check the right-hand end of the control panel
A small stamped plate, low down where the panel meets the door opening. Model on one line, serial on another, and both of them matter.
-
Nothing there? Then it is an R series
On those the tag hides in the burner box. Lift out the grates, then the burner ring, then the left-hand burner pan, and read the side wall underneath.
-
Photograph it instead of copying it out
Codes that look alike on the plate stop looking alike down the phone. A picture settles a GR from a DF in one glance.
Past that point it is a tool-and-meter job. Call Wolf Repair Denver on (720) 575-1433 and we will bring the parts that fault usually needs.
Still wondering
What if the plate has worn away and nothing is legible?
It happens on ranges that have had a hard life, and it is not the end of the diagnosis. Give us the width, the number of knobs, and whether there is a flat plate or a heavy grate set into the top. That combination narrows a Wolf gas body to one or two codes on its own.
Does the serial number matter, or is the model enough?
Both get used. The model says which parts fit and the serial says which version of them, because a component that changed partway through a production run will not go on a body built before the change. Reading it out to Wolf Repair Denver takes thirty seconds and saves a second visit.
