Wolf GR series gas range: what goes wrong in Denver?

The GR series is Wolf's all-gas range: twelve bodies from thirty to sixty inches, in production since 2013, all with the same sealed dual-stacked burners and gas convection oven. That shared hardware means they fail in the same handful of ways whatever the width. Tell Wolf Repair Denver on (720) 575-1433 which code is on your plate and we will start from the right one.

From above, which is the only angle that shows how a burner sits relative to the grates around it.

What makes the series predictable is that every burner is one assembly — base, head, cap, orifice, electrode — and the same five parts repeat across every width. Very little on the cooktop is specific to a body. The differences sit above the burners and below the door: a griddle with its own thermostat, a charbroiler with an infrared burner and a two-position knob, and on the widest bodies a second oven. Those belong on your own model’s page.

What it usually turns out to be

Every figure below is a band, not a quote. The fault is found first, the number is agreed with you second, and nothing is ordered until you have said yes to it.

  • One burner ticks and never lights

UsuallyMoisture or debris in that burner. Wolf's own order is to dry it, a hair dryer on low being the tool it names, clean the cap and the ring, check the cap is centred and flat, and push the knob in and let it spring back.

Quoted from Igniter or spark module $180–$470

  • Every burner ticks when one knob is turned

UsuallyThe module that fires all of them, not any single burner. Wolf lists the spark module beside the switch and the electrode as the parts behind a top that will not ignite, and this pattern points at the first of those three.

Quoted from Igniter or spark module $180–$470

  • The low setting is not low

UsuallyUsually the simmer range never being entered: turn to the detent at the bottom, push, and keep going, and the flame moves onto the second tier of the cap. Where that is being done and it is still high, the supply or the valve is worth measuring.

Quoted from Burner valve or orifice service $240–$610

  • The oven or griddle light starts flashing

UsuallyThe appliance lost the flame and put itself into safety lock-out. Wolf's fix is to turn that knob off and then on again. If it happens twice in a week the range is telling you something real about supply or about the burner it lost.

What it costs Nothing, once that check is done

  • Bakes cooler than the dial says, every time

UsuallyThere is no owner calibration on these ovens: Wolf publishes no menu path and no offset. It gets measured through a full preheat against a reference and corrected from what that shows.

Quoted from Oven thermostat or sensor calibration $220–$470

Still wondering

How do I read the code on the plate?

Width first, then burners, then modules. GR304 is thirty inches with four burners; GR366 is thirty-six with six; GR484CG is forty-eight inches with four burners, a charbroiler and a griddle. Anything starting DF instead of GR is a dual-fuel body and a different set of answers entirely.

Do the 48-inch bodies really have two ovens?

They do. Wolf's control-knob chart lists a separate 18-inch oven knob for the 48-inch model, running from 150 to 500 degrees, and notes that broil is not available in that cavity. On the wider bodies it is the oven most owners forget they own until something stops working.

Are all the burners the same size?

No, and this surprises people. Wolf gives the rear left burner as 9,200 Btu and every other burner on the top as 15,000. A back-left that never quite matches the others for a fast boil is not faulty; it is the smaller burner doing what it was built to do.

Is a GR worth repairing at fifteen years old?

Almost always. The expensive electronics that decide that question on other appliances barely feature here: a GR is mostly valves, burners, igniters and steel. Ring Wolf Repair Denver with the code and the symptom and you will get a straight answer about the body in front of you.
